A Modern Farmhouse With A Twist
by Beth Booth
This kitchen was narrow, dark and crowded, and the dining space was totally disconnected, rendering it unusable. After talking through the options, it became clear that a major addition was needed to accomplish this family’s goals. We blew out the walls separating the dining space and kitchen, and bumped out the back and side walls to create this new, open concept at in kitchen and dining space.
The added space has a steep vaulted ceilings, brining in opportunity for more light and volume. The arched window over the sink floods the kitchen with natural light and views from the mature, oversized trees outside. The added light fixtures above the window add a touch of elegance and style to the windows and Flanking glass cabinets complete the look on the sink wall.
The island offers generous storage, prep space and seating. The pro style slide in range offers 6 burners, a cast iron griddle, a full size oven, and a steam oven! It’s a gourmet chef’s kitchen, all in one appliance! The pot filler completes this area, nearly making it a complete kitchen all on its own!

FINE DINING IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME
The dining room has great a connection to the kitchen, making it a hub for eating and entertaining. The oversized pantry area and wine bar giving the dining room even more purpose. The combination of storage, display and function in a great add to any dining room.
The new chef’s kitchen is styled after a modern farmhouse, but uses cool, moody grey tones to bring in a touch of drama. The light grey cabinetry is contrasted with a darker grey island and hood. Both tones are accented with a hand applied striated topcoat, giving the paint colors depth, warmth, and an hand-made artisan feel. The light quartzite counters are a natural material that bring some variation, but stay calm and soothing. The backsplash is a hand glazed ceramic composed of various shades of white, bringing depth to the space. The pop of iridescent glass behind the luxury range brings in just enough glam and glitz.

ALL THE EXTRAS!
For the plumbing, lighting and hardware, matte black was used. Black offers a pop of industrial and contrasting accent when surrounded by the lighter grey pallet. The concrete bow front farmhouse sink is organic, earthy, and adds layered texture to the design. The wood tile on the floor is versatile and timeless, as well as being durable and easy to maintain.
