What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?

I want to fix the connection between the design team and the execution project by the field team. The design team's intent has likely been a 6-12 month process. Handing that off to the production team takes a lot of communication, organization, and superior management. Being Design/Build solves many of those headaches, and we have a running start, as opposed to just an Interior Design firm, an Architect, or a General Contractor working alone. We've also worked on creating and hiring strategic positions that serve the design and field teams, bringing continuity and holistic thinking. Our management software is very advanced and connects design, field, sub, vendor, and client in one interactive, dynamic, vertically integrated platform.

What do you do at Spaces Renewed?

I oversee all sales, marketing, business development, and interior design.

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position?

I have been a certified kitchen and bath designer through NKBA (National Kitchen Bath Association) for over ten years. I'm confident that I have an expert-level understanding of kitchen and bath remodel and design, although it covers much more than attractive surfaces and finishes. I love understanding design's nuts and bolts, not just the pretty stuff. I am also an interior design associate through ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) - this association is more focused on fine details, luxury materials, creative space, color, and finishes. I've been in sales for nearly 20 years, which has taught me to listen to what a client asks, even if they cannot express or explain it. I love being able to show a client a design that they had never considered, only to find out it was what they needed and wanted! I also sit on the Leadership Council for the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business). It allows me to advocate for small businesses on a state and federal level. It combines my love of public policy with the worthy cause of serving the underrepresented community of small business owners.

I am a driven and high-energy person. I couldn't imagine a career without meaning. What I love about Spaces Renewed is that we are changing people's lives. Creating a forever home for a family that perfectly meets their needs, displays their personality, and brings their vision to life is the ultimate reward. Some other benefits? This job is always challenging, never boring, and always advancing!

What's your background?

I started as an intellectual and academic. I was in graduate school intending to be picked up by a think tank, a consulting group, or a university. How lucky I am that those plans have changed! While I still love the hobby of being a pollical junkie, my life and career are infinitely more rewarding as a wife, mother, small business owner and advocate, and design professional.

What are the values that drive you?

Personal responsibility, loyalty, standing for truth, effort, and urgency in anything I work at, whether with my kids, home, job, or church.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

We love to be outside - camping (in an RV, of course!), boating, fishing, and anything involving the ocean. We love to travel, although, with five young kids, that looks different these days. My perfect scenario would be on the beach in Hawaii, watching my big girls snorkel, my son fish, and my babies splashing in the baby pool.

Marshall has been raising the bar in the construction industry since 1995. He started in landscape construction at a very young age. At 18, he became the superintendent of a large reinforcing company, cultivating a valuable understanding and ability to combine great management with acute attention to detail. After starting construction at the foundation level, he quickly transitioned into general contracting.

What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?

Any error. I'm a problem-solver, so anything that is not working properly or is causing problems.

What do you do at Spaces Renewed?

I work and measure AS-built drawings and lead computer drafting. My role is also focused on supporting Marshall and Beth in establishing protocols and communicating expectations and deliverables with the clients and contractors.

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position?

I have been involved in the building industry for 40+ years and have a BS in Math and Business Education degrees.

I have degrees in BS in Math and Business Education. I taught for one year, and the rest of the years were spent in the building industry, specifically in construction and retail sales.

What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?

Many of this industry's problems stem from a disconnect between the design and construction phases. Operating in a design-build capacity is a step towards bridging that gap significantly. Ultimately, it still really comes down to clear objectives and communication.

What do you do at Spaces Renewed?

A bit of everything, but my primary focus is on design and taking it from initial concept to completion as intended. My role involves keeping a close eye on all projects, from initial client contact to project turnover.

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position?

I have a BS and Master's degree in Architecture and over 20 years of practical work experience as an architectural designer. I have worked on various project types and scales, from single-family residences to new community planning an entire city block projects. This experience includes projects ranging in value from $50,000 – $250,000,000.

I like working on single-family residential projects as they are more intimate and geared to the end user. I enjoy the challenge of improving our clients' lives by tailoring their homes to meet their everyday needs. What's your background?

I am originally from the east coast, and all of my family still resides there. I was born in North Carolina and lived in Annapolis, Maryland, for 15 years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland. After undergrad, I worked for two years locally before deciding to proceed to graduate school.

What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?

There is always a disconnect between the teams on the field and the design/office teams. I love to be the connection between the two and help them to work together as a team.

What do you do at Spaces Renewed?

I come alongside the team from the beginning of the project until the end. I work with the design team and the field team to make sure that the process flows from one to the other well. I get bids, create design presentations, and help with the schedule. I also work on file structure, spreadsheets, and the organization of projects.

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position?

I grew up watching homes being built. My family has owned a Home Development company in Arizona (where I grew up), so I have always been involved in different aspects of building/construction. As an adult, I have worked on Federal Properties in project management and just finished my Project Management Certification.

What do you like about working at Spaces Renewed?

My absolute favorite part is getting to know the people behind the project. When working on different tasks, I feel I can do a better job if I know the people and what is important to them. It allows me to put my whole heart into what I do (even if it is just researching plumbing fixtures or countertop material).

What's your background?

I grew up mostly in Arizona and went to college at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I obtained my Human Services and Counseling degree and elementary teaching credentials. After teaching for a semester, I got an offer to teach at a private school in Carlsbad, CA. I had always dreamed of moving to California and living by the beach, so I jumped at the opportunity. After being in CA for a few years, I reconnected with a close friend who I knew from high school. He had moved from Arizona and lived just a few miles from me. We married in 2009 and now have four children (ages 12, 11, 8, and 7). We moved to Tennessee for a few years but missed CA so much that we moved back in 2018. I have been busy homeschooling my kiddos for the past few years (and still am), but I am grateful for the opportunity to work at Spaces Renewed and be challenged differently.

What are the values that drive you?

My heart is to serve others in whatever capacity I have. At Spaces Renewed, people invest a lot of time and resources into their homes. They are entrusting us to utilize those resources in the best way possible. I desire to come alongside the team and help make this process flow smoothly and the best one possible for the client.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love exploring the outdoors with my husband and kids, homeschooling my four kiddos, serving at church, traveling, and enjoying the beach and Pilates.

Sub-contractors are narrow-minded and only see what they came to do and not the overall picture.

I have been in construction my whole life as a contractor's son. I have worked my way to my position.

I feel like a big problem people deal with is disorganization and confusion, which I want to fix.

What do you do at Spaces Renewed?

I drive the company truck and dump trailer, ensuring job sites get cleaned up, picking up material, and making necessary deliveries. I also oversee tasks on job sites, ensuring tasks are completed and the job site is on track.

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position?

At my younger age, I worked various residential construction jobs, all different jobs that taught me a thing or two about houses starting with Culligan. I started as a Culligan man installing water filters for houses and different plumbing needs. Then I went into working in Attics installing whole house fans, working with electrical, drywall, and framing. From there, I worked a little while with concrete, finally bringing me here to Spaces Renewed.

I like that we are a team, and even more than that, we are a family that genuinely cares about one another.
